I wanted to fill you in on our 2016 Quilt Club program, it's for lovers of stitchery and I am pleased to announce that registrations open today!
This years Quilt Club is called Mermaiden Tales - you may have already seen the quilt and patterns as I released the blocks individually on our Facebook & Instagram page. The quilt is created from nine pieced blocks, each block features hand embroidered (stitchery) mermaids in my true Cinderberry style.
This years club will run over 10 months at AUD$38 per month + postage/shipping. Starting date : March 2016
Each month you will receive all you need to create the featured block for the month including - Cinderberry pattern, Chatsworth fabric, linen and embroidery threads. The final month includes the finishing pattern, border and binding fabric.
Note: Fabric range chosen and threads are exactly the same as my original Mermaiden Tales Quilt / quilt measures 62 1/2" square.
I would love for you to join me on this stitching journey so I can send you happy mail each month and watch you create your very own Mermaiden Tales Quilt. To become a Quilt Club Member please follow the link below to our online store to register your details.
-Please understand that places are limited due to the availablity of fabric -
In the deep blue waters we heard a little whisper from the timeworn horse of the sea - "Hold me closer my love, I need to rest just a little while."
So here it is, Hold me closer - the final block in Mermaiden Tales.
If you are on Instagram please take a moment to visit @cinderberries main page, from here you can be the first to view all nine blocks at once and see the quilt top before borders are added, promise to update you here with more images over the coming days.
Patterns will be available in our online store (retail & wholesale) as soon as I can get them loaded on - between school holidays shenanigans and late-late nights to catch up. Let's keep it real - between you & me, I'm feeling a little like that timeworn horse of the sea.
"The best gift you could have given her was a lifetime of adventure."
- Lewis Carroll
If you are new to my style of work, let me tell you more.....to begin I illustrate the design using grey lead pencil & paper creating the feel and movement of the mermaidens. Once created I draw the design again, although this time onto linen with a super fine Zig pen - the trick is to draw dark enough that I can see the lines and light enough that they can be covered by a single strand of embroidery thread.
Once drawn I can begin choosing embroidery colours and begin stitching the illustration, it's all hand done - needle & thread......slow stitching, no machine kind of stuff.
Just in case you are wondering and for those who have asked, the full set of patterns for Mermaid Tales will become available once all nine blocks have been revealed......that's next week folks, but more about that soon.
Let me tell you about block 6 - Undersea
"Let's drift for a while and learn undersea.
It's peaceful yet powerful, much like you and me."
