It has taken Miss Evangeline a while to introduce herself to the world...you see she is a little shy but oh so sweet. Miss Evangeline is block number three in the Truly Scrumptious quilt - how exciting the first row is stitched 1/3 of the way there...BIG, HUGE smiles...
Actually this is the second time I have typed out this post...whoops! someone here, a male (who will remain nameless) cut through the extension lead with a hedge trimmer which caused our power to go out...hmmm, blessings to the safety switch. I think I better buy him a petrol trimmer for Christmas.
Miss Evangeline has been in the garden picking flowers, in fact she still has twigs in her hair and has made a designer dress from petals and leaves - I guess she whipped that up before the lights went out LOL. I wonder what color her shoes are?
The truth is the inspiration behind the dress came from this photo I took last week. Each Saturday I bring home a different bunch of flowers from the fruit shop to brighten up our home - how awesome is this flower?
This week I have been asked a few times how many strands of thread I use while stitching. Most of my designs are sewn with two strands of DMC however if I am working on something detailed like Miss Evageline's face & hands I will only use a single strand.
I have also been experimenting with new stitches - the red stitches on her dress (between the leaves) is a simple seeding stitch, the hem is just a long and short blanket stitch.
Lately I have even been caught reading the bible...
I spent the afternoon drawing up the next three girls and right now I feel like I am living and breathing this quilt. The question is...will I finish it in time?
I wonder what the Scrumptious girls will get up to next? Hmmm....I am seeing cupcakes & sugar plums
