I guess by now you would know I am a lover of threads also known as floss - but these last few weeks Brenda from Little Acorns has posted me some gorgeous Cosmo threads to try out which has lead me into a new 'hunter and gathering' phase.
I can't believe I haven't even had a chance to try them out yet - I know, it's not like me to have something so yummy look at me for so long.
On my to-do list for this week is to have a play with them, after all - they can't be eye candy forever can they?
After saying that I want you to know I have not lost my love for these...
or these
or these...
But once I start stitching and creating, floss bunnies begin appearing around the house and studio - actually they multiply overnight and occasionally attach to my leg.
Surely I am not alone so I am wondering if you have floss bunnies too?
Till then
Natalie X

I've done two things with my floss bunnies:
We had a lunchtime craft group at work. I saved everyones floss and yarn bunnies. For Christmas I filled glass ornaments with all the pretty colors and wrote the members name on the ball and gave it to them for presents
I save them up in a zip lock bag and when Spring arrives I "float" them into the air for the birds to use in their nests!

Natalie, I just luv floss bunnies, but most of all I just love the look of a well sorted 'floss box'I have 3, DMC, WDW, Sampler and the new ones available from Mrs Martins Quilt Shop ( I can't remember the name but they're by an Aussie lady. I'm nearly up to my 4th Floss Box and I only started stitching a few years ago. Fat 1/4's and Floss Boxes....... where would we be with out them ?

Hi Tracy,
We can buy the little sticky numbers for the floss cards over here in Australia - they are sold by DMC & make life a little easy.
Hope you can find them too!

There's a Stitch a long happening in the cross-stitching world called TUSAL (Totally useless stitch a long) with people collecting their floss bunnies in to jars and posting photos of their progress!
Have also seen people use these wedged between two layers of organda or lawn and then heavily stitched - one of a kind fabric creation!

Hi Natalie, I collect all my little left overs in a jar, they look beautiful, did you see it in one of our last mags, Country threads i think, they called them "Orts", but i like the name floss bunnies instead. I'm to find where i can buy Cosmos thread.
thanks so much for your beautiful inspiration. kind regards, Kerry.

Sometimes my floss bunnies end up catching a ride on my long haired chihuahua....he's white so they can't hide.

Thanks to you Natalie, I have Tail Feather's Floss Bunnies gathering at my place. And then I have bits of thread all over me too. Such a messy sewer I am!
Do you really have your floss numbers printed on those little bits of card they are wound around? Really????!!! How do you do that?!

I've seen these little jars that you can put your floss bunnies in. When it's full you put it outside and the birds use them in their nest building. But I have floss and dust bunnies and snippets of quilting thread all over my house. Whenever I go somewhere, there is always some thread stuck to me. Oh well, I guess it could be something worse.

Good to see you are not alone with the floss bunnies, plenty around here too, providing a bit of colour on these grey days. Enjoy your new threads - such gorgeous colours to work with.

HI Natalie--First off--Cosmos thread--be prepared--using it will change your life---I have been using it for about 3 months now and some of my projects I have used both kinds of emb thread and the Cosmos wins hands down everytime--to the fact that I have already gotten rid of all the other brand, except for the colors I will need to finish some BOM projects started in the "older" thread--I find it does not tangle much, but if it does it only takes a slight tug and it's out again--you can easily pull 2 strands out each time instead of the one at time as the other--it slides through the fabric like "silk" so is easier on your wrists--well, I will let you discover the other good things about it??? As for those floss bunnies--I have a trail of them around here--but I have to smile when I see them, cause it means I have been having fun with yet another project--Hugs, just, Di

My floss bunnies go in my thread holder. It always put a smile on my face when my very large teenage son would walk out the door with one attached to his bottom.

Gosh Natalie I was just reading about floss bunnies in the latest Country Threads Stitchery edition Vol 9/8. They are actually called Ort's. The article tells how people fill glass jars and clear plastic shapes and they save them until they are full and make decorations with them. They look wonderful , all of the colours mixed up together.

I think everyone has "floss bunnies" hoping around their house. I always have to make sure they don't end up in our dinner!!!!

I think you need a thread holder like this one, http://thestitchingroom.blogspot.com/2007/10/thread-holder-pattern.html
it's perfect on your armchair to put all those little flossies in. My threadholder is nearly full and it'll end up stuffed in a softie one day.

I know someone who collects her floss bunnies, at Christmas she pops them into a clear ornament and has a reminder of all the pretty threads she has used that year.

We certainly have floss bunnies everywhere. And with my 9 year old daughter starting to stitch too they are multiplying.
