Christmas is almost upon us again, comes around fast these days don't you think?
I remember when I was a little one it would take forever for Santa to visit now it feels like just a few months ago he came and enjoyed the cookies and milk while Rudolf munched on these.
On the home front we have been decorating the tree, making playdoh, visiting Santa, enjoying Christmas playgroup parties, spending time with friends and generally just trying to keep up.
Life's exhausting isn't it?
Decorating with a little one who prefers the fine art of un-decorating has been fun although worth it when she brings me a star off the tree while I am up to my elbows in dish water and sings 'twinkle twinkle little star' while holding it carefully above her head. There is nothing better.
Except maybe dress up day and the joy of playing inside the tree box.
On the design front....
Cinderberry wise - the studio has been buzzing with new ideas I have for 2011
I think it's going to be a big year.
Exciting even.
So while my mind is already working on things for 2011/12 I will show you a snippet of the final works in progress for 2010, if you kept your eyes peeled in the photos from Quilt Market this won't be so much of a surprise.
You see, Bella Babushka is being quilted...
It began like this -
then grew,
and grew...
Once she is quilted and bound I will take some better pictures of the entire quilt and share them with you. It is very simple to make, basic applique, piecing and a little bit of stitchery which makes me smile.
and if you are wondering. Yes, she was inspired by Flat Nat.
Till then,
Natalie x

WOW!!!Bella Babushka is adorable!!=)Beautiful fabrics too!!
Hope this new year will keep your inspiration blooming!!Greetings from Finland!

Natalie,
We are interested in carrying the Bella Babushka pattern in our store when you have it available. But I was wondering, which fabric line you used for this quilt so that I can try to order some for our customers. Happy New Year,
Jennifer

Thank you for your message Meredith -
I am currently on a mini Summer break and the quilt top is with my quilter. The quilt should be ready for me to collect in the New Year and the pattern will follow - probably mid January 2011. I hope some stores will offer it as a kit but I can't confirm who at this stage.

I would love to buy this pattern and maybe a kit - can you let me know where I can buy it?
Thank you

Hi Marianna, thank you for the message - I will work on the figures but it might be a guesstimate, the quilt is off at my quilterextrodinaire and I like to triple check everything before I release figures, just in case I make a monumental boo-boo.

Hi Natalie! I love the new babuschka's! Is it possible to write just the fabric measurements for this pattern? I know I can get it now still (it is going so fast in the shops) so would like to order enought to make this quilt when the pattern is released! I already fell in love with this fabrics line when you showed it to use when it arrived, so I would love to have a beautiful pattern to need it LOL! Ye, still need a reason to buy fabric. Silly he! Thanks a bunch and HAPPY Christmas! Your little one is adorable! Indeed the face says it all and wow she is growing fast! Time flies.....

Natalie, I loved everything about this post, it all stole my heart, but nothing so much as the image of your little beauty singing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" holding the star over her head. I can almost hear her sweet little voice (probably a memory of my now 40 year old daughters singing it for me). What a delightful mental image it is. Thanks so much for sharing the photos with us. I love the new quilt and I can't wait to see the finished photo. Thanks also for sharing your wonderful talents with us all year long. Just think...if I hadn't had to have emergency surgery last August, and started re-teaching my hands the trick of stitching, then realizing I needed some hand stitching to do while I wasn't able to sit at my sewing machine for over 3 months, I never would have found your blog, nor the other wonderful designers from your side of the ocean. Now, I truly don't know what I would do without you all. Very honestly, after discovering I had Scleroderma and Peripheral Neuropathy (affects the feeling in my hands, therefore the ability to hand stitch), I never would have tried hand stitching again. I thought it was lost to me. Now, even though my stitches aren't as beautiful as they used to be and my needle turn applique is far from perfect...I can once again put needle to fabric and lose myself totally in a wonderful stitchery. Thank you for that! Big Hugs, have a most blessed Christmas!
