Firstly I would like to thank those who have been able to take part in the first auction for one of my handmade quilts, thank you so very much.
My second auction will begin tonight and both will continue to run until the 24th Januaray 2011.
If you are not sure what I am talking about pop over here to read about Auction #1 - I am looking forward to the master list appearing on Make it Perfect's blog tonight and at the same time so very proud to be Australian and see these images on our TV in the evenings.
Still it is heart breaking
I look at my little girl and I want to do more.
I guess by now you have seen my Tail Feather's Quilt. This is it, the images on my blog header above are close up images of the quilt.
You can view more here or the making of here.
It is sold around the world as a ten part block of the month quilt and uses just two Moda Patisserie sweet rolls + stitchery fabric, border fabric, binding and threads.
It is my favorite design.
YUM.
Did you know I still had a few Patisserie sweet rolls sitting in the studio?
Do you know how hard they are to come by now, almost impossible. Yeah, you read right - almost.impossible. It get's better, I also have the original fabric I used in the applique birds in my studio stash - the 'Sampler’ fabric from Madeira range by Blackbird Designs for Moda.
*modasigh*
I contacted my amazing distributor - Creative Abundance and asked it they would be able to dontate the FULL set of Tail Feather's patterns (10 in total). The answer was, YES.
My next step was to find border and binding fabric, I wanted something a little different from the original. Something that breathed new life, hope.
It was perfect. Sunkissed by Sweetwater for Moda, the binding followed soon after.
You know what that means? It makes a Tail Feather's Quilt Kit.
This is what you are bidding for:
1 x FULL set of Tail Feathers patterns (10 in total).
2 x Moda Patisserie sweet rolls.
1 x Moda Madeira sampler fabric for applique birds.
1 x Cream stitching fabric for embroidery and border.
1 x Moda Sunkissed ivory life for final border.
1 x Moda Sunkissed limeade skinny lines for binding.
2 x Skeins of each DMC thread color required for the emboridery (12 skeins in total).
All the requirements you need to make your own Tail Feathers quilt top plus the binding.
Priceless, right?
So this is how it works - please read carefully...

I am from the US and it has been heartbreaking to see what is happening in Australian. I love your patterns and would very much like to make Tail Feathers. Your generosity in making the patterns and all the fabric available is outstanding. I bid $300 Australian dollars. Cynthia

Natalie... that's an amazing and generous offer for an auction. I don't need another complete kit of Tail Feathers... I'm still plodding away on the bom I've had sitting around for a bit!! ;) But I did just want to say how much everyone will appreciate your generousity and how much every little bit helps for the fund raising for the flood affected people. THANK YOU.
