New Pattern - Elfin Delight

So here it is - the pattern cover for my newest design Elfin Delight, it's finished, completed, wrapped up and ready for you to stitch...what are you waiting for?

The 'Elfin Delight' journey

It's about time I showed you what I have been stitching and working on these past few weeks, it's been a fun design to create - so fun I have decided to include three design variations in the one pattern....how ironic that when I was making these lovelies I misplaced my favorite needle.   

Elfin Delight is a needle and scissor keep project, a little flip back holder that can sit beside you when you are stitching and then tuck the sharp bits safely away and throw in your sewing bag.

They sure look sweet sitting together in a little group.  The fabric? it's from my next collection Folk Tale, arriving in stores at the end of next month.

These two pictures are actually images of the back of the needle & scissor keeper, I couldn't resist taking a photo of them, with the exception of the design above in the top left corner - this is one of the pattern options, simply no embroidery with a two piece front flap.  Perfect and quick to put together for sewing gifts and crafty swaps with friends.

Hmmm....I must name that hedgehog below one day, simply too cute not to have a name.

Moving onto the front here is little Elfin, she is delicate, tiny, free spirited and loves dancing with the butterflies.

I love her so.

When you open Elfin Delight it's designed to fold back on it's self and can be secured at the back with a covered button so the keeper sits up and can sit beside you when stitching. 

What's the covered button on the inside for?  Hook your scissor handle over the button so everything you need is in one place, always.

Here are the pattern variations available -

Option A: Embroidered on the front and inside flap

Option B: Single embroidery on the front flap

Option C: No embroidery with a two piece front flap

I just loved taking photos of all four Elfin Delights open with the little arched needle keeper just begging to be filled with my favorite needles.....

I am just putting the finishing touches on the pattern now, proofing and pattern testing is complete and I can't wait to see these little gems popping up all over the place.  For those stores interested in placing a wholesale order please send me a direct email / cinderberry at ozemail dot com dot au / you will be among the first to receive the Elfin Delight stock.

Auction @ The Handmade Library

It's the middle of Summer here in my part of the world - I know it's hard to believe for my friends who are making snow angels and drinking hot chocolate right about now, anyway - it's hotter than hot

The kind of heat that make you run under the sprinkler to keep cool.

Sadly it's also the kind of heat that helps to fuel bushfires that destroy property and livelihoods, the picture below of the recent NSW fire was taken by my brother whilst flying from Melbourne to Goldcoast just a few days ago.

One image you may have seen on the ABC is of this family sheltering under a jetty near their home in Dunalley, south east Tasmania while smoke and fire filled the air around them. Terrifying.

I wanted to share with you a few events that are being held to raise money for those affected by the Tasmanian fires and Red Cross....because maybe we can make a difference to someone in need.

The Quilted Crow girls Leonie and Deirdre have put their heads together to create a special day called 'A Gathering of Goodness' - you can read all the details here - if you are in Tasmania call the girls and book in, the day is all about coming together as one..... you will have a wonderful time & the girls are so much fun!

The Handmade Library have arranged an auction to raise money for those effected by the recent fires in Tasmania among some amazing products is the full collection 32 x fat quarters of Woodland fabric donated by Cinderberry Stitches - no reserve, postage paid within Australia.

Auction begins tomorrow and ends on Monday - Please share with your friends and let's try and raise as many $$ as we can for those who need it most

12 weeks

Welcome 2013 - I wonder what grand things will happen this year?

I know, it's taken me fourteen days, but that's just how life rolls around here.  Reality is, it takes a lot longer for me to sit down and write to you than the quick 2 minute Facebook or Instagram (@cinderberries) update and let's face it - I have a 12 week old and work into the wee hours of the morning.....sometimes I struggle to put two words together.

Did I say 12 weeks?  Yes indeed I did, although I must say it feels like our little guy has been with us forever.  We love him beyond imagination and his big Sister thinks he's rather awesome too.

You can tell by her smile.

Hansome? yes

I found a trick to photograph one fast moving 4 year old....get her to lay down, it worked a treat - and I possibly said the word 'bum' just as I took this photo (a trick I learned from our photoshoot with Sara Taylor last year).  I am not ashamed, if it works roll with it - the laugh was priceless.

Mummy's can be silly too, in my book that is 150% okay.

This little guy couldn't be happier or more relaxed if he tried, and that just about makes my heart sing, and to think that this time last year we were wondering if our family would ever become that of four.

What a difference a year makes.
